Luke's 3!

My baby is 3.
3!!
Seriously guys. It doesn't feel like we've had this precious little dude for three years already but then again it feels like we've always had him in our lives.
So on this day of your birth, baby boy, I dedicate this post to you (and your brother, because your lives are so intertwined)
You've started the "why?" Phase. And daddy and I are going crazy. Haha. You ask if zach's awake, then immediately ask why. You ask why I don't want you to drop your cup on the floor even though in my first request not to drop your cup I had told you that I didn't want you to drop it because it would make a mess! You ask why. All. Day. Long.
We went to the Paper Store to find Father's Day gift. You were such a good boy, you listened to me when I said not to touch anything, you were polite and kind and then we made our way to the clearance room. Where you found a super soft kitty (which happen to be your all time favorite animal right now). This is our conversation:
L: "look mom, I found a kitty. It's SO soft and SO cute. You've got to come see."
M: "that's awesome Luke, but did you find a gift for Papa or Big Papa?"
L: "no. I found a kitty."
M: "that's great honey but I don't really think you need a kitty and you don't have enough stars (on your behavior chart) to get a toy from the store."
L: "maybe I'll just borrow it."
M: "you can't borrow things from the store. You'd have to buy things from the store."
L: "okay. Let's buy it."
M: "I don't think you need a kitty."
L: "maybe I'll just carry it for a minute."
Let me interject here. Dude's got me wrapped around his finger.
M: "what if I got you the kitty for your birthday? That will be my present to you."
L: "oh!!! That's a good idea!"
And here we are, 3 days later with a kitty. And party Santa showed up during the night and brought Luke's presents!

Luke came up with the idea of party Santa. He's been saying for months that he going to ask Santa for his birthday presents. I think we were all like "okay. Sure." But he's been adamant. "I'm going to ask Santa for my presents. I'm going to write him a note and leave it on the kitchen table and leave carrots for the reindeer and leave Santa some pie and then when I get up, I get presents." How do I not comply with that request. His elaborate plan of Party Santa.
So this morning, party Santa visited and left a few presents for Luke on the kitchen table. I've never seen him more excited.

It's the small things in life, people.

So here's to you, my grown up 3 year old, who loves to play with trucks and pick on his brother. Who loves chocolate frosted donuts with gimmies and pb&j (strawberry jelly) sandwiches with pretzels and carrots. On a plate. To eat in the living room. And Rice Krispies for every other meal. Who cheers for the ice cream truck so he can get his ice cream cone. Who gave his brother the nickname of Muffin Truck. Luke is Banana Whiskers, daddy is Yogurt granola farts and I'm Snot.

Happy birthday, Buddy.

I'm totally the worst

Guys,
I'm totally the worst at this blogging thing. I feel like I always want to blog a little something about the happenings around here but I never remember.

There are a few things that need to be documented forever.

The first of which is Lucas. For months he's been anticipating his birthday. "My birthday is in June" he would tell everyone. Then he said the following: "I'm going to ask Santa for my birthday gifts." Ok, were full believers of Santa in this house. I'm totally down with the big man in red breaking into my house on December 25 each and every year to leave some of the noisiest toys for my boys (ah! Rhymes!!) but now Santa for a birthday? Ok. I'm cool with that too. So after weeks and weeks of listening to how he'll ask Santa for his birthday presents - "I'm going to ask Santa for my birthday presents and I'm going to leave him a note on the kitchen table and leave carrots for the reindeer and pie for the party Santa and then he'll leave my presents"- but now imagine this sentence being spoken as fast as his little mouth would let him in a voice that is very close to Elmo. totes adorbs.- I have now been to 3 stores today for locate the exact presents he has asked Party Santa for.

I love a good surprise and if Party Santa will bring a little bit of joy to this boy's birthday, who am I to stop it, right?

Here's to all the moms and dads who do special little things to make their humans a little happier!

Now. Onto my dear Zachy aka: zacho, zach, smooshy, Muffin Truck [thanks Luke (banana whiskers) and dad (yogurt granola farts)] * my funny name is Snot* zacho whacko, blondie. He's my little love bug. He never leaves my side, wants to eat all day and still has a binky. Don't judge me too harshly. He doesn't have it all day. It's usually when he's tired and needs to relax. He doesn't have it when we go places, generally. But this dude has a screech that basically makes my ears bleed. His cry is no better. Honestly. I kick myself all the time about it but then he screams and I have to plug the noise hole when no amount of comforting will calm him. He's been talking so much today and has been getting his own sense of humor. He loves Borgelorp on Wally Kazam and we found him just watching and laughing the other day.

These two boys are so drastically different it's amazing to me.

Just a little glimpse into our life right now! Hopefully I'll remember to blog again soon!

This is life now...

I'm thinking about starting up this blog again. If for nothing other than a place to put some thoughts, to take some time and get things out in the open. Nothing major is going on, nothing epic has happened. Well, aside from the fact that since i've last written, Zach was 5 weeks old and now he's 14 months (and Luke is almost 3). Look at those photos of them! They don't even look like the same kids that I have in my house now.

From now on, I may refer to Luke as Biggs and Zach as Little. Such clever code names we have come up for them!

I feel like I need to realize that having two boys under the age of three is obviously going to be a challange, especially when the younger one has a tonal frequency that is much like an ice pick stabbing me in the brain.

Some days I feel like a bad parent. You know those days? The days where Biggs is constantly beating up Little and no amount of speaking to/yelling at/scolding/taking toys away from will stop it. The days where Little is walking in the hallway and Biggs comes up behind him and full body checks him into a wall. Those days where Little keeps poking at Biggs just to get a reaction, but Little is the louder of the two, so you automatically ask Biggs what happened to make Little cry. It makes me sound like a bad parent. Believe me, I cannot stand when the boys are like this, when Little is just antagonizing the crap out of Biggs and then Biggs pushes Little by the face just  to get him to stop poking him. Will boys really be boys? I try to instill the "this is your brother and he's the only one you're ever going to have" and "he loves you so much, we need to teach him how to play nicely with toys" and "please don't scream at your brother, he's not even in the same room as you."

Can someone tell me this will eventually get better? I don't want my kids to grow up to be jerks. No one wants their kid to be a jerk, but right about now, that's how it feels.

Snapshots

So my two boys are currently sleeping, I don't even want to move in fear of creaking the floor and waking them up.
I'm feeling so lucky lately. Aside from Zach being uncomfortable with a tummy issue, he's really only 5 weeks old so we're still learning about each other. He cries a lot and we haven't been able to comfort him. But we're working on it.

I'll leave you all with a few snapshots

Babes

Dear babies,
You're my world. I couldn't imagine my life without either one of you.
Lucas, you make me laugh every single day. When you say beep beep brother I can't help but smile. I'm amazed by the things you know. Every day you know something new. The fact that you know green means go and red means stop is incredible. I love that you love your daddy. And that you need us to turn on the moon every night before we close your door when you go to bed. And that you said "love you" unprovoked to me today. Cue melting heart.

Zach, you're my buddy. I can't believe a month has already passed since you were born. You're a completely different kid than the one we brought home. You get sad if you're in a room by yourself during the day. You love to be held and walk around the house with me. You're eating me out if house and home already. I think one can of formula per week is going to exhaust me, but I'm glad you're eating so well. I cannot wait to see you grow and learn. And I really think you like when big brother pays attention to you. And helps give you a bath.... Which mainly consists of Luke putting his hands in the water and making handprints on my back while I wash you...

This is life lately. And I'm ok with it.

Projects are slowly getting finished. My list of things to do is never ending. Although I'm so glad the kids are both in bed by 8 at the latest.

Off to finish a project!

Life as we know it

So life has been a little hectic lately. Two under two is taking its toll on us. Luke is now 20 months and Zach will be 1 month old on Friday. Time is flying. I had A flu type bug last week that I'm still feeling effects from. I only have 8 1/2 more weeks on maternity leave, the temperature is still below freezing and all I'm longing for is warmer weather.

Eric and I recently got invited to a wedding. A destination wedding of sorts. In NH. I've been going back and forth on whether or not we should leave the kids and get away for a weekend. My mom offered to hang with the kiddos for the weekend (it's in June, right before Luke turns 2 and Zach will be almost 5 months) and part of me feels guilty because Zach will probably still get up in the night and who wants to make someone else get up in the night with your kid? But she said she doesn't care so we decided to take the opportunity and book our weekend. Pretty pumped about it! Kid free for a whole weekend!

But back to hectic life. Luke's been kind of clingy lately. He has never been attached to me. I was always just the constant factor that was around, but he never runs to me or begs for me, he's always been a daddy's boy. Which I'm ok with. But lately he's wanted me. Which is nice. He doesn't get jealous when I hold the baby, which I thought he would, he just needs me around. He's been waking up crying for me. I asked him how his nap was yesterday and he burst into tears. Break my heart, little boy.

Zach's kind of an independent. If I hold him too much he gets cranky. If I don't hold him enough, he gets cranky. He used to cry. A lot. But we figured out he was having painful gas and have added drops to his bottles and he's SO much happier. He's been cooing and making eye contact lately. We're trying to get him on a nightly schedule along with his brother so they both recognize that after bath it's bed time (Luke has been on this schedule since he was 2 months old) but now with two, we need to start it a little earlier. It's been working out so far. Zach takes abath, then hangs out with daddy while Luke takes a bath then Luke goes to bed and we then try to get Zach to bed. It'll only get easier from here!

Got to hang out with these dudes all day yesterday.

But in me news, I lost 27 lbs after having the baby. I feel like I still need to lose 50. I signed up for the Warrior Dash which I'm pumped about but the date got moved up almost an entire month. It was June 28 and got moved to May 31. So I'm a little stressed that I won't be in the shape I was hoping to be in for it. But I guess I could always do it again next year. I've been dying to run. Like craving it. I want warmer weather so I can just go out and run.... And take the baby without worrying that he'll freeze to death.

Hopefully soon.

20 Questions

I have come across this on many blogs and decided to do my own.
Yes I'm aware it has been months upon months since I have blogged. Maybe I'll update you on the happenings of life soon. But for now, 20 questions is what I can manage.

1. What brings you the greatest joy? My family.
2. What are your vices? Chocolate pudding and Oreos.
3. What is on your nightstand? A lamp. The video monitor to spy on the kiddos. A bunch of junk.
4. Do you have a secret talent? I can pick up things with my toes....
5. What is your greatest indulgence? Cameras and handbags.
6. What should every woman try at least once in her life? I have no idea. Honestly. Just try to step out if your comfort zone at least once.
7. What makes you laugh? My kids. Every day. And my husband.
8. What is the one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I don't really have any secrets... I guess some people would be shocked that we now have 2 kids....
9. What is on your bucket list? Warrior Dash. (May 31st!!! Woo!!!)
10. What is on your feet right now? Shiny Red slippers
11. How did you make your first dollar? Doing chores I guess.
12. What superstition do you believe in? I always knock on wood.
13. What items in your closet do you wear the most? T-shirts and yoga pants.
14. What is the best gift you've ever received? My kids.
15. What is on your liquor shelf? I don't have a liquor shelf.
16. What is on your kitchen counter? The clean dishes.
17. What would you never leave home without? My wallet. And my phone.
18. What movie has the greatest ending? Shawshank.
19. Who is on your guest list for your ideal dinner party? Kevin Spacey, Clive Owen, Kevin Bacon, Helen Mirren, and all the guys from Impractical Jokers who arrive fashionably late.
20. What is the one thing you wish you had known when you were younger? Not to stress so much (I still need that reminder occasionally)

Do your own, I'd love to read your answers!

Little Boy

Dear Little Boy,
You're still my baby and will always be, but soon it won't be only you, daddy and me. Soon you'll be a big brother. I hope you continue to be the cool little dude you are right now.
You're so smart. You surprise me every day. You know all of your body parts and all of the noises that animals make. You can get your point across fairly well.
You love candy. Probably more than anything else. Except ketchup. You LOVE ketchup. Even if we tell you it's ketchup but it's really syrup for your waffle. You've been eating your waffles with grated cheese too, which kind of makes me cringe, but it just makes you unique.
I can take you anywhere with me. You love going places. You love to give kisses and hugs. You're so polite. Always saying thank you and trying to remember please.
You can do your shapes block like a champ and can even recognize the shapes we ask you for. Especially circle and star.
I hope you'll teach your brother all the cool things you know. Like how to pretend to be a ghost and walk with a blanket draped over him to scare us. And to not pee on me when I change his diaper.
I hope you guys are on the same sleep schedule when you get older. You're my little early bird which helps since we usually wake up around the same time.
You're my Buddy. My first baby boy. You've changed my life more than you could ever imagine. I love you so very much.
Love, Mumma

A color run

On Sunday, my sister and I did a color run. Splashofcolor5k.com if you want to look it up. It was the best time. I was nervous we were going to be last (me being 5 months pregnant and all) but we weren't and it really wouldn't have mattered much anyway. It was so much fun. I would really like to do it again next year!!
I'm posting via my phone, so sorry if the format is all screwed up! Hopefully the pics are below!!

In Luke news, I was laying on the floor trying to see of Eric could feel the baby kicking (he was super active tonight) and Luke came over, put his head on my tummy and said "baby". It was pretty adorable.

And sometimes if you ask him what animals say (ie. What does a dog say? He'll answer "woof") if you slip in a "what does mumma say?" He'll reply with "no, no, no, no, no."
Apparently I tell him no a lot. Ah kids! Too funny.

That's all I've got for tonight. Going to work on some etsy orders, a baby blanket for a friend then try to sleep.... which has not been coming easily lately...

Have a great night everyone!!!

P.s. check out the sweet blue unibrow on that sister of mine!

Apple picking.. and some news.

So, I'm terrible. Horrible at this whole blogging thing.

Honestly, I've had good intentions. I keep meaning to log on and write, but then I just don't.

My etsy store has been keeping me pretty busy, I just sent out 6 orders this morning.

But let's move past the fact that I haven't posted since June.

We found out a few days before father's day that we're going to have another baby! On Sept 18th we found out that we're having a boy. Another little goofy to try to keep up with. We're so excited!

So needless to say, I've been a little busy around here.

A few Saturdays ago, we took Luke apple picking. My brother came home from college so he could go with us too. We all had a really great time. I think Luke ate about 4 apples that day.

Probably going to be our Christmas Card.... I mean, how cute is this!
At the apple orchard, we also took Luke to feed some goats. He had a blast. He keep giggling when the goat would eat out of his hand.

This little boy has grown up so much in the past 15 months, I can't even believe it. Sometimes I'm surprised at all that he knows.
He knows when I tell him things are trash to put them in the trash. He knows to bring his dirty socks to the washing machine. He likes to sweep. And eat apples. He loves fruit. He has an opinion about what he'd like to eat, and wear, and watch and play with. He's just amazing to me.

I can't wait for our new little guy to arrive to see how Luke will react to not being the center of attention all the time. I'm sure he's going to be a great big brother.

Rambling done. Good night, everyone!

So I want you all to know, I did get my cara box. It's amazing!

I need to make a post on it but Luke's first birthday is tomorrow. So I'm a little swamped.

And he decided he was going to start walking....

And I'm exhausted.

But I promise I'll post soon!

A little selfish

This morning I woke up to "Muh Muh muhhhhh" and "ah! Mama!" coming from Luke's room at 5:30. Which totally means he was up waaaay before I heard him. But that's Luke, my early bird. Awake with the sun. So I dragged myself out of bed and reluctantly went to shower (before my alarm went off) which I do every day of the week. But today, after my shower and slight mental pep-talk convincing myself that I should go to work and not stay home all day, I didn't go get Luke up out of bed. It's 6:23 and he's now silent. Which either means he's harboring slight almost-a-1-year-old resentment or that he fell back asleep. I'm thinking the latter, but really, I don't know. So yeah I'm a little selfish right now, blogging about this, taking a few minutes to myself while my house is quiet, before starting another long day at work.... Sometimes, it's worth it. Soon (like the second I hit publish on this entry) I will get Luke up and ready for grandma camp and ill whisk him away to the car and another day will start.

But this was nice. Being able to collect my thoughts.

Have a wonderful day!

P.S. Luke's going to be 1 in a week and a half. When did this happen!?

Cara Box and Being Graceful

Cara Box Exchange.

So over on wifessionals blog there is this blogger exchange called Cara Box. This month I decided I would join up. As I've mentioned before I wanted a pen pal and this seemed like a great way to get to know some other people in the blogging world.

Here's the button if you're interested in joining next month's exchange

Cara Box

I'm excited to get to know some new bloggers this way!

In other news, I fell down the last two stairs on the middle flight down from my front door. While heading out for a run. While carrying Luke. Ugh. Thankfully I didn't fall fall, but I did catch my foot on one stair and bent it in a way it's not supposed to bend. Lets see how many shades of purple it is tomorrow because I still went for a jog. Silly.

4 more months until my 5k and I'm planning on running the whole thing. Hopefully I can accomplish that!

That's about all. Nothing new. Although I just made up a diaper 4-wheeler tonight.

Have a wonderful night everyone!

Dear Lucas

 Dear Lucas,

I can't even believe you are going to be 1 in a few weeks. Your dad and I look at the pictures of you when you were a tiny baby and cannot believe how much you've grown in only 1 year. You're so smart and you make me laugh so much. Don't worry about not walking all the time, you'll get there. I know you practice every day so one day you'll just wake up and I won't be able to catch up with you. I love how you know what you want. When you want it. Sometimes it gets me and your dad a little frustrated when we're trying to finish up dinner and you're screaming because you want to play. But last night, we surprised you with strawberries and whipped cream and you had a ball. I hope I never forget how you laughed when I put a dollop of whip cream on your tongue. I'm so happy that you learned how to drink out of a straw. That totally made my day. Now if we go places, you can share my drink! I love that when you hand me things you'll say thank you and how when we go in the morning you say "Go! Go! Go!" and how you choose biscotti over any other cookie in the bucket. Sometimes me and your dad get a little stern with you. Hopefully you'll learn to understand it's because we love you very much and we don't want to see you get hurt. Plus, when you laugh at us after we say no, we get a little upset. We love that you're an outside boy and you know when you're tired and when you want a bath. You have an awesome sense of humor and I'm so glad you're our little boy. I hope you continue to be the cool dude that you are.

Happy almost birthday, baby.

Just Plain Rambling

So lately I've been really toying with the idea of setting up a table/booth somewhere to sell my handmade goodies. It's kind of hard though because there are like 10 million things I want to be able to sell. I've been making up bows and selling them for charity, but since I can't really promote too much at work, I've only made $46.50. It's kind of a bummer but it's still better than nothing. And my town has a Community Fest but tables start at $50. I feel like I would need to spend every day from today until the actual Fest making up stuff and that kind of stresses me out.

But I really have so many ideas.

This is all rambling. But I kind of wanted to get it down, so please bear with me.

This is what - in my perfect world- my table would consist of:
1- Bows
2- Baby Blankets
3- Stuffed toys
4- Framed Photographs
5- Hand Bags
6- Diaper cakes
7- Baked Goods.
- all of these things are so different-

So I'm still torn.

But I love making baby blankets. So if you would like to order one, please let me know!!

In other news.
Last night, Luke took 4-5 steps to walk to Eric. That's big news in my house! He's been so timid to let go and walk (he'll stand without holding on for minutes at a time.) Also, he's officially weaned himself off of the bottle. And no more baby food. He scrapes it off his tongue and says "done!" He's growing up soo soo fast. It's crazy. Next month he'll be 1. Am I even ready to say that?!

And because ever post is better with a pic (or 5)

Me and my sis. Love this girl. We make each other crazy, but at the end of the day, all you have is your family. <3

13 years we'll be together. Love him more every day.

Luke also turned 10 months on Tuesday. That means 2 more months til he's 1. I can't handle it.
So far he's completely done with baby food. He wants nothing to do with it. He says "done!" when he doesn't want it or when he wants to get up. He's been standing for longer periods of time and I heard he took 2 steps the other day.. He likes peanut butter and jelly or fluff sandwiches and still enjoys bbq sauce and hot dogs. He loves matchbox cars and giving kisses to our feet. He's so smart and keeps testing his boundaries. He's giving me gray hair but his hugs and kisses totally make up for it.

That's all that's been going on. Make sure to stop by and support Bows for Boston on my etsy page.

See ya!

5K news

Hi Guys. Guess what. I started 5K training. I'm so pumped. Here's the deal. I'm not a runner. I never have been but I'm totally making myself into one. I can run a mile on the treadmill but since I signed up for my first 5K, I feel like maybe I should start practicing outside. So, I downloaded a little app called Couch25K and have started. It's 3 days/week of intervals that gradually get harder as you go (obviously, right). Yesterday was day 2. I feel better than I did on day 1. That says something right? Now I just need to figure out some weight training for the off days and an eating plan and I think I'll be well on my way to being able to run a 5k and lose some of this weight.

Not a whole lot going on lately, just found out two friends are pregnant so I'm patiently waiting to find out what they're having so I can start making up some baby things for them (pretty much my fave thing to make).

I also really need to organize all my craft stuff. Maybe purge a little. Go through my attic, get stuff ready for a yard sale. It's hard though, parting with stuff, I feel like I never know if I'll need it again (and why buy it if I already have it?).

Oh! I'm also shooting my first wedding in over a year and a half on the 27th. I'm excited but kind of panicking because it has been so so long, but I know that once the day gets here, I'll suck it up and get the job done!

I also deactivated my facebook. It was just becoming a hassle to deal with all the negativity on there. Do I really care what song on spotify you listened to? No. E-cards are funny, but they get boring. Everyone's drama was just too much for me to deal with. I love my life, my little family. Isn't that what I should be focusing on. And if anyone wants to see updates of Lucas, they can always check in...

Have a great day everyone.

9 months.

I notice lately that I have been taking photos of Luke primarily with my phone. It is definitely not the best quality but seems to be within reach whenever I need to snap a quick shot. I love my new DSLR that I got for Christmas from my two guys but it is definitely not for taking quick little snap shots. Thankfully I have a little fujifilm camera that just needed a battery charge.. Hopefully I'll be able to snag some more.

Things have been a little quiet lately so I thought I'd just jump on here for a minute and try to catch up.

Luke is 9 months old now. I may have mentioned, but on the day he turned 8 months at 5pm he started crawling. Yes- I remember the exact time. He was not crawling at 4:45, or even 4:55. At 5 pm on the dot, my dad held up the remote and Luke crawled across the room to get it. So that was kind of awesome.

Now he's 9 months. He eats 3 meals per day, is not a big fan of juice (hooray!), loves chicken and BBQ sauce, will devour a hot dog in no time, likes to eat off of a fork, wants to eat whatever I'm eating (which is a-ok with me, I don't mind sharing with him), loved Stuffed Pepper Casserole, oranges, noodles, broccoli, french fries, summer squash and can crawl super fast. He can stand up and walk along furniture and has been seen multiple times just standing without holding on to anything. He's so observant and wants to be involved in every conversation. He'll fake cough to get your attention and will now grab your chin if you're looking away so that you can look at his face and talk to him. He loves the swings and the see-saw. He still eats everything he finds on the floor, dust bunnies and rocks are not left behind. If you ask for a kiss, he'll give you one and sometimes he needs to just give kisses for no reason. He hollered when his auntie walked away because he didn't get to give her a kiss. He laughs for no reason, kind of like a chuckle. He'll say Num Num when he wants something to eat. He likes Snicker-doodles. He makes a stinky face. If you say cheese and point a camera at him, he'll show you all his teeth. And we gave him a haircut because his hair was in his eyes. He looks like such a big boy now. He's the light of our lives.

I seriously could not ask for a better kid.

P.S. I'm working on my 20 wishes. I can knock a few things off at least. Maybe I'll get around to doing a post on it soon :)

My life in pictures (lately)

Lucas learned how to give kisses. It's pretty much the best feeling in the world.
And he likes BBQ sauce and Orange Juice. And anything with good flavor, like tacos and stir fry.
He learned how to crawl on his 8th month birthday and hasn't stopped since.
And he just learned that he can pull himself up and walk along the furniture. Which means we're in BIG trouble.

Wish us luck.
